Who We Are...
The International Reiki Foundation
is a domestic non-profit, global community of Reiki practitioners of the Usui
System of Natural Healing -- Usui Shiki Ryoho. We teach and practice
the Usui System of Reiki by maintaining the time-honored tradition as
passed through the direct spiritual linage of Dr. Mikao Usui. We do not acknowledge the Granddaughter of
Mrs. Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, as her successor. We believe that
we are all lineage bearers, rightful heirs and potentially
grandmasters. It is not the exclusive right of one person. After all,
who has the right to regulate the gifts of God?
The foundation was
originally formed as the Utah Reiki Alliance on September 01, 2001 by Reiki Master Teacher
Rev. Timothous L. Seaton
in response to a mounting need for Reiki practitioners to unite
and defend their right to openly practice Reiki.
In 2002 the name was changed to the Utah Reiki Foundation to overcome the somewhat negative connotations (within
the Reiki community) that accompanied the use of the word "Alliance"
in the title. In 2003, because of the overwhelming response by the
global community, "International" was added to the name.
Our
Mission...
The foundation was organized exclusively for
charitable, scientific and educational purposes, more specifically to be
the advocate and voice for the global community of Reiki practitioners,
individually and collectively, in promoting and facilitating the role
and function of Reiki practitioners in providing high quality Reiki care
in all aspects of professional and private practice.
This mission shall be
unrestricted by consideration of age, color, creed, disability, gender,
health status, lifestyle, nationality, race, religion or sexual orientation.
The foundation is working to establish global informational resource centers to provide accurate information to the general public, and anyone
interested in Reiki, including students and teachers of this holistic
healing art. The foundation fulfills this need through political activism,
membership, community outreach programs, exceptional training programs,
registration and certification, as well as educational and social
events. To locate your local state representative please click

Note: Reiki
practitioners who are members of the foundation assert that they meet certain
guidelines and agree in writing to abide by the
Code of Ethics & Standards of Professional Practice (.pdf)
as laid out by the foundation's
Board of Directors.
